2017 Léon Millot
The 2017 Léon Millot was machine picked on 9/21 at 17 brix and with a pH of 3.6. The fruit was crushed, de-stemmed and inoculated with BRL97. The primary fermentation lasted 9 days and towards the end was co-inoculated with malolactic bacteria and medium toasted American Oak chips were added to the tank for 8 months.
This 100% Léon Millot is deep garnet in color and has a beautifully bright and fragrant nose of lilac and pomegranate. The palate has bright, fruity notes of cranberry and pomegranate with muted flavors of black pepper and a bit of earthiness. The wine is high in acid which lends itself to a nice light chill for a warmer-weather wine but is also versatile and enjoyable at room temperature as well.
